With over 15 years of experience in preclinical drug development, Bastien has led programs across immuno-oncology, microbiotherapies, and cancer resistance. His expertise includes 3D cancer models, translational research, and the identification of diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic targets.
At MaaT Pharma, we develop innovative microbiome therapies designed to modulate the immune system and improve outcomes for patients with severe oncology diseases.
Our pipeline spans both hematology and immuno-oncology. MaaT013 (Xervyteg®) is being developed for gastrointestinal acute Graft-versus-Host Disease (GI-aGvHD) following hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and is currently under regulatory review in Europe. We are also advancing next-generation co-cultured microbiome therapies for solid tumors, which are designed to restore immune balance and help strengthen anti-tumor responses in combination with immune checkpoint inhibitors.
Across our pipeline, we wanted to deepen the mechanistic understanding of our microbiome ecosystem therapies. For MaaT013 (Xervyteg®), the objective was to better characterize its immunoregulatory activity in GI-aGvHD. For our MaaT03X candidates, the goal was to evaluate their ability to activate immune cells and drive stronger effector-cell anti-tumor responses, with or without immune checkpoint inhibitors.
For our MaaT03X program, Explicyte designed a stepwise experimental strategy that first assessed activity in PBMCs, B cells, and T cells, and then evaluated each candidate’s ability to enhance the anti-tumor activity of effector cells. Their team also conducted ex vivo analyses on samples generated from animal studies. In parallel, for our MaaT013 (Xervyteg®) program, Explicyte performed in-depth ex vivo analyses to help characterize its mechanism of action in a biologically relevant setting.
These studies helped move our preclinical programs forward, supported by structured, decision-ready reports. Explicyte demonstrated strong expertise across both immunostimulatory and immunoregulatory pathways, while their regular, transparent communication helped facilitate project follow-up and decision-making.
